"The Complete Hits of Linda Scott" has always been the ultimate collection of her hits and remains so today. But in 2013, we set out to make it even better.

Using the original multi-track session tapes, our own engineer Walt Weiskopf remixed and re-mastered these beautiful full-orchestra recordings to bring out the stunning clarity and detail present in the original studio recordings (especially for 1961!) while still preserving the sound and "feel" of the original singles.

You can find inferior-sounding imported imitations, but only this collection has all her hits from the original master tapes in brilliant sound!

22 songs including her signature hit I''ve Told Every Little Star. Contains every one of Linda''s 12 charted hits plus 10 more. Eight page booklet with photos & liner notes by Rob Finnis, well-known writer for the renowned Ace label of England.

This CD was remastered in true stereo in 2013. This is somewhat confusing, because the back cover and the CD booklet still bear the old date of 2002. However, the disc itself has a one-line reddish banner near the top that states that it was remastered in 2013. The picture of the CD cover in this Amazon ad shows a red circle that boasts "great sound!" , but that circle does not appear on the actual disc cover.

I found the above rather confusing, to say the least. Suffice it to say that the original mono pressing (done in 2002) was remastered in true stereo in the year 2013. The sound is wonderful for the most part, a significant improvement.

I think that LInda has one of the finest female voices from the 1960''s. She''s in the pantheon with Connie Francis, Lesley Gore, Diane Renay, Darlene Love, and Mary Weiss (lead singer of the Shangri-Las). Linda didn''t get to record the best songs of the sixties, but her voice was as good as anybody else.

First off, I like Linda Scott. She was a young talented singer songwriter and her hits are in memory from when I was young and attended dances in Philly. I loved "I told every little star" and "Star Light Star Bright" and my favorite hit "Don''t bet money honey". But realistically, this is not a 5 star cd as even Don''t Bet Money Honey" while having a nice tune only had about 20 words in the lyrics. It''s not a great song lyrically but a nice little ditty. After the first few songs, this cd is dragged down by a "star theme" where every song is about stars. The songs are ok but I''ve heard much better versions. Instead of Linda''s versions, why not listen to The Elegants sing "Little Star", Kathy Young and the Innocents sing "A Thousand Stars", Little Anthony and The Imperials sing "When you wish upon a star", Billy Ward and the Dominoes sing "Star Dust", The Rivieras sing "Count Every Star" and The Bluenotes version of "Blue Star". Make your own mix and include Linda''s "I told every little star" and "Star Light Star Bright" and you will have a really good "Star" themed cd. Don''t get me wrong, there are some really great moments here as well, which is why I have it three stars. Town Crier is really good as is Christmas Day. So if you like Linda Scott, need her hits and want to hear some other fine songs, you''ll be ok. If you buy this thinking every song is a keeper, you''ll be disappointed in the middle of this cd. For me, it was worth buying for the gems anyway.

Completist Collectors Will Be Frustrated ... But It''s A Great 22-Track Coverage Of Linda Scott

Singer Linda Scott was born Linda Joy Sampson in Queens, New York on June 1, 1945 and moved with her family to Teaneck, New Jersey in 56. After serving as a vocalist on the Arthur Godfrey Show towards the end of the decade she cut her first record for the Columbia subsidiary Epic with the backing of the Hugo Montenegro orchestra - In-Between Teen b/w Lover Of Year (Epic 5-9341) - which went nowhere following its Oct 1959 release.

She then joined the recently launched Canadian-American Records where she would score with her first single, a cover of I’ve Told Every Little Star, first a # 10 hit was back in 1933 for Jack Denny & His Orchestra with vocal by Paul Small from the musical Music In The Air. With the backing of the Hutch Davie orchestra, it soared to # 3 Billboard Pop Hot 100 in the March-May stretch of 1961 b/w Three Guesses as Canadian-American 123. Before the year was out she and Davie would add 4 more to the charts in two double-sides hits before both moved with Neil Galligan, who had been running Canadian-American for the owners, to his new label, Congress Records, where she would add 4 more to the Hot 100 and one Hot 100 Bubble Under into 1964, and one more Bubble Under entry in Feb 1965 at Kapp Records after that label bought out Congress - when everything came to a halt with the arrival of the British Invasion. And in between her first and second Congress hits, there would be two more on the Canadian-American label which had been held in the can.

So the question is, how does this Eric release stack up against the title “The Complete Hits Of Linda Scott”?? Most will love it, including the sound reproduction which, in all but tracks 8, 10, 11, 13 and 20, are true stereo. Those 5 exceptions were “remixed to stereo from the original multitrack session tapes by ‘Little Walter’ DeVenne.” In the insert are 7 full pages of fascinating liner notes by Rob Finnis, liberally sprinkled with LP cover reproductions and publicity photos.

If there is to be any criticism it will come from completist hits collectors who like to have both sides of every nationally-charting single and here there are two Bubble Under entries and their B-sides missing as well as the non-charting flipsides of 5 of her Hot 100 entries. In addition, tracks 6 to 11 are from her first album, the star-themed “Starlight Starbrioght” (Canadian-American CALP-1005) released in 1961. Nice songs to be sure - but not “hits” in the strictest sense of the word. Also, track 20 - Christmas Day - was on one side of a Nov 1961 failed single (Canadian-American 132) with Santo & Johnny’s Twistin’ Bells on the other. Those missing sides would have turned this into the perfect Linda Scott hits anthology in the eyes of those collectors.

For your information, I show the complete discography of her nationally-charting sides in chronological order in the Comments below, with an astertisk (*) preceding those left out of this volume.

After co-hosting the ABC TV variety show “Where The Action Is” from 1965 to 1967, Linda served with the U.S. Army from 1970 to 1972 before earning her degree in Theology and then becoming a music teacher at New York City’s Christian Academy.

While I could easily find many versions of this tune, the one I most remember is Linda Scott''s hit from the early 1960''s. It took me some time to determine that Linda Scott was the artist that I remembered. I was not pleased that I had to buy the album conventionally (rather than via download). However, this album contained a good number of very well recorded and performed tunes. I especially liked Stars Fell on Alabama, Stardust and Don''t Bet Money Honey. I typically buy music to listen to technique and arrangement. However, this is one that I very much enjoy when I''m not working. If you are one of us "oldies" you''ll enjoy it too.

This collection opens with the million-selling hit I''ve told every little star, which was Linda''s first and biggest hit. She had two other big hits, Don''t bet money honey and I don''t know why and several minor hits.
All these hits together with some B-sides are included here. Linda recorded an album full of star songs and some tracks from that are also included. Among them are You are my lucky star, When you wish upon a star, Stardust and Stars fell on Alabama.
Linda was a natural talent who, with better management, might have had a long and successful career. As it was, she became disillusioned before the sixties ended and quit the music business altogether.
This is a remarkable collection and one can only wonder at what might have been.

I''d rather have really clean mono versions of Linda Scotts hits instead of "true stereo" that''s not. I''ve been a DJ for over 40 years and I think I have a pretty good musical ear, so what I''m about to say might sound like I''m bashing the CD but I''m not. Love the music, don''t like the way it was mixed. "I''ve Told Every Little Star" is Linda''s signature song and sounded nice and solid on the original single. Here, her voice is on the left between dead left and center channel, the musical instruments between center and dead right. To further muck it up, too much reflected reverb from her left channel voice over on the right channel, so if you simply put the song in mono her voice is drown in reverb. Most of her hits seem to have been recorded with her on one side and the music on the other, except for "Never In A Million Years" which seems to be stereo though very primitive. I think what we have here is a case of "we did the best we could with what we had" and likely all the original masters with separate tracks are long gone, so what we have are working masters that have already been mixed into what''s being passed off as stereo but is just a few tracks of premixed instruments with voice added, probably all on a 4-track master. She had some neat material and each track makes you want to hear the next with that smiling voice of hers, but for my taste, I''d rather they have put most of this into straight mono and done away with the extra reverb. Aside from that, it''s nice to have all her songs in one place, and I will give kudos to Eric Records for doing the best they could with what they had.

Joyful! This is a star studded collection guaranteed to take you down memory lane almost hand in hand with Linda. Her intimate song stylings could even make standards and ballads seem like golden oldies, for she is vivacious, sparkling and exuberant! You may relive first love like it''s a walk in the park. All of these songs about stars seem a metaphor for the singer...a star in her own right. In this collection are ten song titles about "stars" and even some moonbeams thrown in too. There are 8 songs in a row about stars. It''s a rare and impeccable CD!
